Cosmos St Lucia is a large, privately owned open air Villa and Lodge for up to 16 guests. Perched high on a ridge north of St Lucia’s old French capital Soufrière and south of Anse Chastanet Beach, guests enjoy panoramic views of the Pitons Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognised for the two volcanic spires that rise majestically from the Caribbean Sea. The extraordinary setting, open air architecture and warm welcome make for an unforgettable destination celebration or vacation in St Lucia. Our guests rave about the experience their reviews. Cosmos means universal harmony, inspired by the view of mountain, sea, and sky and the sublime natural beauty that surrounds.
An extraordinary open air living experience awaits, with at least one wall in every room opening to the elements. Watch hummingbirds flit in and out; spot lizards darting among the rocks around the pools; hear the sunset song of tree frogs and marvel at their tiny forms; wonder at a canopy of stars that seems close enough to touch, untainted by light pollution. These are just some of the joys of the natural world at Cosmos. Nearby are rainforests, hot springs, botanical gardens, glistening seas, beaches and protected coral reefs. St Lucia’s diverse marine and coastal habitats support important marine life. Hawksbill turtles are seen inshore, and whale sharks, pilot whales and dolphins offshore. Overall, it’s one of the most varied ecosystems on the planet.
Cosmos was designed in synergy with the serenity of the natural environment. Renewable hardwoods and polished concrete finishes dominate the modernist architecture, inviting peaceful contemplation. The solid wood upper floor of the Villa cantilevers some 500 feet above the coast, to dramatic effect. Below, six bedrooms look west to the sea and the setting sun. Just off the main living area are sundecks and a 48ft ozone pool before a sweeping, ever changing seascape. A Pavilion lounge, outdoor kitchen, al-fresco eating area and solar-heated stone plunge pool overlook the panorama. Via a separate entrance at the east end of the property, the Lodge offers self-contained, studio-style accommodation with its own private kitchen, plunge pool and sun deck. Between the Villa and the Lodge the property accommodates up to 16 guests in seven bedrooms; the Lodge may be rented separately and is frequently booked for honeymoons.
Small islands like St Lucia are at the forefront of the consequences of climate change. The magical experience at Cosmos is only sustainable by being mindful of the environmental footprint on this beautiful island. Our unique location means the essentials – water, electricity – are provided through hybrid on and off grid methods that are more than adequate if guests have a mindful approach to consumption. Positioned high on the hillside, Cosmos is naturally cooled by northern trade winds but it’s still a warm tropical climate. Ceiling fans feature in all the bedrooms and air con is available in the Villa bedrooms for the hottest season, but it is not intended for constant use. As with all things in life, sustainable luxury is about striking a new balance. Learn more.
